rattling round like a can in the road:

small momentos & whispers of truth
tossed aside just like last week's news
& it gets to me more than i share
and i'm downplaying how much i care

but now it's time
to end the cycle
of compromise
and scared silence;
the sweetest crime

waiting patiently, biting my tongue
waiting for the moment i go wrong
doubts run deep through my rational brain
all these thoughts i wish i could explain
tell me softly that i could be right
tell me that you're not just filling time
cos it's clear you're not one to let go
all my darkness, i'd put it on hold

cos now it's time
to end the cycle
